What a great day of golf at Ladera’s Championship course! Had the pleasure of playing with a WW2 vet so we were a little slow and waved a group behind us through. The course was in fair condition for the season. The fairways were a little rough, especially the par 5 17th. This course is predominately Bermuda in the fairways, so the course and pictures are of the dormant condition. Ladera was opened in 1980 and is the longest of the city courses. There are great views of the Sandia’s to the East and the 3 Sister Volcanos to the West. The greens hadn’t seemed to recover from the last top dressing and were very slow, bumpy and sandy, not the best putting surface. The tee boxes were average for the season. This facility has a very nice practice area with a large putting green, a nice chipping green and a very nice driving range. The facility sports a 9-hole course also, along with a Pro Shop, Banquet Facilities and a Restaurant. There is a special on Tuesdays for $35 including golf and food, check out the photo! Both a fade and a draw come into to play at Ladera due to the combination of left and right dog legs. There are several par 4’s, 7, 12 and 14, that all measure over 400 yards from the whites, a challenge to the weekend warrior! See the attached Ladera Photos for course information, pictures and more! Enjoy!
